Biography
Allison Miller is an American actress, writer, director, and producer known for her work in television and film. She was born on September 2, 1985, in Rome, Italy, to American parents Margo and John Winn Miller. Her father worked as a journalist, and because of his career, Miller spent her childhood living in several parts of the United States, including Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Florida. She eventually settled in Tallahassee, Florida, where she attended Maclay School and became involved with the Young Actors Theatre. Miller studied acting, singing, dancing, and piano before attending the University of Florida. She later left college and moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting professionally.
Miller began appearing on television in the mid-2000s, with early credits including General Hospital, CSI: NY, Desperate Housewives, Cold Case, and Boston Legal. Her first film appearance was in the independent drama Take (2007), in which she played a shoe-store saleswoman. She then appeared in 17 Again (2009), playing Scarlett, the teenage girlfriend of Zac Efron’s character, and in Blood: The Last Vampire. That same year, Miller received her first major television breakthrough when she was cast as Princess Michelle Benjamin in the NBC drama Kings. Although the series lasted only one season, her performance helped establish her as a rising actress. She later starred as Skye Tate in Steven Spielberg-produced science-fiction series Terra Nova and as Carrie on Go On.
In 2014, Miller took on one of her most significant film roles when she starred in the supernatural horror movie Devil’s Due. She played Samantha McCall, a newlywed whose pregnancy takes a terrifying turn after mysterious supernatural events. The performance gave Miller her first major feature-film leading role and increased her recognition as a film actress. She also appeared in Always Woodstock, There’s Always Woodstock, Selfie, Incorporated, and 13 Reasons Why. Miller later became widely known for playing Dr. Maggie Bloom in the ABC drama A Million Little Things, appearing throughout the show’s five-season run. Beyond acting, she has worked as a writer, producer, and director, making her television directing debut on A Million Little Things. Her career demonstrates her versatility across drama, comedy, horror, science fiction, and behind-the-scenes creative work.
