Andrew Pleavin is an English actor known for his work in film and television, particularly in action productions. Born Andrew Pleavin on April 13, 1968, in London, England, he spent much of his youth in Transvaal, South Africa, before returning to England at age twelve and settling in the Wirral. He developed an early interest in martial arts, beginning training at twelve and eventually earning a black belt at eighteen. Pleavin also competed in full-contact martial arts before acting. He trained at the Drama Centre London from 1993 to 1996 under Christopher Fettes and Yat Malmgren, beginning his professional acting career after graduating. His combination of physical training and dramatic education later became useful for demanding roles.

Pleavin made his professional screen debut in the 1998 British crime film Cash in Hand, playing a barman. He subsequently appeared in television productions including The Bill, Heartbeat, Doctors, Attila, Down to Earth, Wire in the Blood, Holby City, and Messiah: The Promise. His early film credits included Distant Shadow, Re-inventing Eddie, Unstoppable, Playground Logic, and Batman Begins, where he played a uniformed policeman. These roles established him as a dependable supporting actor, often portraying police officers, soldiers, and officials. His television work also included appearances in The Bill.

Pleavin achieved his most recognizable film role in 2006 when he appeared as Daxos, the Arcadian king, in Zack Snyder’s historical action film 300. The movie became a major success and brought Pleavin greater visibility, making it the clearest choice for his breakout film. He later reprised Daxos in 300: Rise of an Empire in 2014. His subsequent film credits include Attack of the Gryphon, Return to House on Haunted Hill, Blood: The Last Vampire, Inception, Love by Design, London Has Fallen, High Strung, and American Assassin. He has continued working in television, with credits including The Borgias, Strike Back, Sons of Liberty, and The Saint. Pleavin remains associated with supporting roles and action productions.
