Biography

Liam James is a Canadian actor born on August 7, 1996, in Vancouver, British Columbia. He became interested in acting at a young age after being introduced to the entertainment industry through a casting connection. James began working professionally as a child, developing experience in both television and film while steadily building his confidence in front of the camera. He is also recognizable for his distinctive heterochromia, with one blue eye and one green eye, a feature that adds to his memorable screen presence.

James made his acting debut on television in 2006, playing the younger version of Shawn Spencer on the comedy-drama series Psych. He returned to the role repeatedly and appeared in numerous episodes, giving him valuable early exposure to audiences. His film career began in 2007 with Good Luck Chuck, followed by appearances in films such as Fred Claus, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, Things We Lost in the Fire, and Horsemen. His performance as Noah Curtis in the 2009 disaster film 2012 brought him wider recognition and demonstrated that he could hold his own alongside an established adult cast.

A major turning point in James’s career came with his work on the television series The Killing, where he played Jack Linden, a troubled teenager caught in the aftermath of a difficult family situation. The role allowed him to show greater emotional range and helped establish him as a promising young performer. His biggest film breakthrough followed in 2013 when he starred as Duncan in The Way, Way Back, a coming-of-age comedy-drama directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash. James carried the film as a quiet, insecure teenager who gradually becomes more confident during a summer at a water park. His sensitive performance earned critical praise and a Young Hollywood Award for Breakthrough Performance. He later appeared in projects including The Family, Speech & Debate, Deadly Class, and White House Plumbers, continued pursuing varied roles across television and film.
