12 Feet Deep 🎥 2017 Movie Info

12 Feet Deep is a 2018 thriller film directed by Jeffrey Reddick. The story follows two sisters, Bree and Jonna, who become trapped beneath the fiberglass cover of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. What begins as an ordinary day at the local swimming facility quickly turns into a terrifying fight for survival when the pool closes and the sisters realise that no one knows they are trapped underwater. Bree and Jonna have a difficult relationship and carry emotional baggage from their troubled childhood. Although they share a family connection, they have grown apart and struggle to communicate with one another. Their situation forces them to confront these unresolved feelings while trying to find a way out of the pool.

As the hours pass, the sisters become increasingly desperate. They are exposed to cold water, limited oxygen and the constant fear that they may not survive. Their physical surroundings become increasingly dangerous as their strength begins to fade. With no easy way to escape, they must rely on their determination and on each other. Their only potential source of help is Clara, a maintenance worker who discovers that the women are trapped. However, instead of immediately rescuing them, Clara becomes involved in the sisters’ struggle in a disturbing and unpredictable way. Her actions make an already desperate situation even more dangerous, forcing Bree and Jonna to fight not only against the environment but also against another person.

Throughout the film, the pool becomes a symbol of the sisters’ emotional confinement. Their struggle to survive parallels their need to overcome resentment, fear and mistrust. As their situation becomes more extreme, they are forced to put aside their differences and work together. 12 Feet Deep combines survival-thriller tension with psychological drama, focusing on family relationships, desperation and the instinct to survive. The film keeps its setting deliberately confined, creating a claustrophobic atmosphere as the sisters race against time to escape before the pool becomes their grave.
