Set in Pennsylvania during the American Revolutionary War, 1780 follows Honore, a reclusive former soldier who has withdrawn from the conflict to live a quiet life as a frontier trapper and farmer. Living with his young son, Miles, Honore struggles to balance the responsibilities of fatherhood with the harsh demands of survival in the wilderness. Having experienced the brutality and suffering of war, he prefers to remain isolated from the fighting and protect the fragile peace he has established. However, the conflict between the American Patriots and British forces continues to threaten even the most remote settlements, making it increasingly difficult for ordinary people to escape the violence surrounding them.
